Piriapolis, Uruguay
Left La Paloma Wednesday afternoon and arrive here Thursday morning. We only wanted to stay here a few days before continuing onto Buenos Aires. Tomorrow morning’s weather looks good so we’ll be off.
Yesterday we took the bus to Montevideo to check it out. We were both surprised at how pleasant a city it was to visit. Like many of the South American cities we’ve visited, the style of architecture is very interesting and eclectic.
Unfortunately most of the buildings in the oldest part of town, just like cities everywhere in the world, have been neglected so long that restoration maybe difficult. However, some attempts have begun. We’ll have to pay it another visit when we haul the boat out in Piriapolis in September.
Next message will be from Argentina!
