La Paloma, Uruguay
We've been in La Paloma for over two weeks now and will probably leave the first of next week, weather permitting. We haven't been in a hurry to leave because, 1) it's the cheapest place we can hang until the moorage rates for Argentina go down the first of March, and 2) we like it here! And the weather has been perfect, about 75F and little humidity. Unfortunately, the one draw back is that the harbor facilities are in need of repair and this would not be a good place to be in a really bad storm.
This would be a great place for anyone looking for great beaches, inexpensive lodging (lots of homes for rent), and fun places to eat out. The really upscale resort is Punta del Este with it's big hotels and casinos, but we prefer to more laid back atmosphere here.
Our next major goal is to get settled in to what will be our home for the next six months. Really looking forward to spending time in Argentina and learning more Spanish.
Hasta Luego!
