Made Offering To Neptune As We Cross The Equator

Positions:
10/29/05 00 00.000, 29 09.600W 0119 UTC Cross the Equator!
10/29/05 00 22.358S, 29 15.491W 0600 UTC
10/29/05 01 17.080S, 29 42.916W 1900 UTC

I calculated that I've crossed the Equator now four times: twice by air (Peru and New Zealand) and twice by sea (a freighter from Singapore to Jakarta and now on Tamara). But this was Mark's first time and he was excited as he watched the GPS and the latitude was all zeros. Made an offering to Neptune just to make sure.

Continuing along 4 - 5 k. Should cross the Equator early in the morning, between 2-3 am. I said the other day we were less than 700 miles from Recife, Brazil - I was wrong. We are now less than 650 miles. Oh well.

Picked up the SE Trade Winds yesterday about noon and have been sailing in a 10-15 k wind. We are more than half way and less than 700 miles from Brazil.  The voyage so far has been very pleasant. Finally got the last of the red dust from the Cape Verdes off the boat in yesterday's rain showers.
