Porto BeloArrived Porto Belo this morning. We thought this anchorage would be more like those in the Ilha Grande area but it was non-stop power boats, jet skis, windsurfers, small day sailers all day long. The town of Porto Belo is small but less than 2 km along the bay is a small city. And the week between Christmas and New Years is the official start of their summer.

We'll stock on fresh produce, check email and leave as soon as weather permits.

Next Stop Porto Belo

Ilha da Cotia, 53 13.779S, 44 38.49W

Left Paraty at 4:00 pm and motored to an anchorage two hours south. There are so many wonderful anchorages in Baia da Ilha Grande one could spend a year exploring the area. After 17 days in the area, 8 days just in Paraty, we're continuing on our way south.

Favorable winds and current until 10:00 am this morning when the wind died and we motor-sailed. Winds picked up late afternoon and should hold through the night. Our next stop is Porto Belo just north of Santa Catarina Island. Should arrive by late afternoon on the 30th.

On Our Way To Uruguay

I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas. We had a Brazilian over for dinner that we met at the beach bar-b-q and he’s been very generous in letting us use his car for trips to the market, etc. No presents, just another day in Brazil.

If the weather is good we’ll leave either later today or tomorrow morning for Porto Bello, about a 4 day voyage. Once leaving here we will be more or less heading straight for Uruguay.
